Plentier ERP · Point of sale

A POS system for Kenyan shops, connected to your stock and books

Sell at the counter with a barcode scanner, send an M-Pesa prompt to the customer's phone (confirmed automatically by Safaricom), take cash or card, and print receipts. Every sale updates your stock and your accounts in the same system, so you always know what you sold, what is left on the shelf and how much cash should be in the drawer.

  • Included from KES 1,000/month
  • No per-till licence
  • Works on hardware you have
What the POS does

Everything a busy counter needs

The point of sale is ERPNext’s own POS, built into every Plentier ERP plan. It runs in the browser on a computer, laptop or tablet, with nothing to install.

Fast checkout

Scan barcodes or search by item name or code; the item lands in the cart with its price.

M-Pesa, confirmed

Send a prompt to the customer's phone or apply a payment made to your till; the amount fills in once Safaricom confirms. Setup guide.

Receipts

Print on an 80 mm thermal printer or email the receipt to the customer.

Live stock

Every sale reduces stock in that shop’s store, with batch and expiry tracking where you need it.

Cashier shifts

Open each shift with a float and close it with a cash count, so differences show up the same day.

Discounts and offers

Price lists, pricing rules and loyalty points, with control over who may change prices.

Returns

Find a past sale and return items against it; stock goes back and the refund is recorded.

Sales reports

POS register and sales reports by item, cashier, payment method and day.

One system

Your till and your books finally agree

Most shops run a standalone POS, then re-type sales into a separate accounting package and count stock by hand. With Plentier ERP the till is part of the ERP, so there is nothing to reconcile between systems.

  • Stock is always current. Sales reduce stock at the moment they happen, and the same items flow into purchase orders and reorder levels, so you restock before you run out.
  • Accounts post themselves. When a cashier closes their shift, the day’s sales are posted as sales invoices with income, payments and taxes in the right accounts.
  • Cash is accountable. Each cashier has their own login, and every shift records the opening float, expected cash and what was counted.
  • Customers have a history. Pick a customer at the till to build their purchase history, apply their price list and award loyalty points.
  • The counter and the back office match. Credit sales to businesses, quotations and deliveries go through the ERP’s sales module, with the same items and prices as the till.
Who it’s for

Built for counters that move stock

The POS suits businesses that sell physical items across a counter and need to know their stock and cash position every day.

Minimarts and shops

Quick barcode sales, daily cash-up and reorder levels for fast-moving items.

Pharmacies and agrovets

Batch numbers and expiry dates tracked from the delivery to the sale.

Hardware and spare parts

Thousands of item codes, units of measure and trade price lists for repeat customers.

Boutiques and wholesalers

Item variants such as size and colour, plus wholesale and retail prices from one stock.

FAQ

POS questions, answered

Something else? Ask us

Is the POS included in every plan?

Yes. The point of sale is part of ERPNext, so it comes with every Plentier ERP plan at no extra cost. There is no separate POS licence or per-till fee.

How many cashiers can use it?

Each cashier logs in with their own user, so the number of cashiers follows your plan's user limit: Starter up to 2; Business up to 5; Professional up to 15. Separate logins mean every sale and every cash count is tied to a person.

Can customers pay with M-Pesa?

Yes, with automatic confirmation. Connect your own paybill or till, and the cashier sends an M-Pesa prompt to the customer's phone; once the customer enters their PIN, Safaricom confirms and the amount fills in. Customers who pay your till number directly appear in the POS within seconds. A sale can also be split between M-Pesa, cash and card.

Does it work offline?

No. The POS runs in the browser and needs an internet connection to complete sales, because stock and payments are recorded straight into your ERP. A mobile data router as a backup connection keeps the till running if your main line drops.

What hardware do I need?

Any computer, laptop or tablet with a modern browser. USB barcode scanners work out of the box, and receipts print on standard 80 mm thermal receipt printers through the browser's print dialog. You can keep the hardware you already have.

Does it send invoices to KRA eTIMS?

Not in the standard plans. ERPNext does not connect to KRA eTIMS out of the box. If your business needs eTIMS invoicing from the till, talk to us about an integration as part of our managed ERP service.

Can I run more than one shop?

Yes. Each shop gets its own POS profile with its own stock location, price list and payment methods. Starter covers one shop from the default store; Business and Professional allow unlimited stock locations, for more branches.
